Splurged and got myself two new cards this month.
Prof 8000, just installed it tonight. Seems to be working fine. No better no worse then any other stv0900/stv0903 card Ive got. 4.2sec for a scan, its the slowest card I have but I also just got it today so I havent had time to play with speeding it up. Uses a pcie power cable. $82 cdn with shipping
Skystar 2 express hd. Been using it a few days now, works well. fastest scanning card Ive got. 1.5sec even beats the Prof 7500's 2sec. Thats impressive. Its got a minor bug I havent fixed yet, every second tune it switch's the carrier offset +/- ie if I tune 5mhz above the freq it will tell me Im 5mhz above it, next tune, 5mhz below it, next tune 5mhz above it. kinda odd. doesnt effect the performance, just the displayed value. interesting note that I have to looking into more is the card is reporting cut 3.0 , it even seems to lock ACM/VCM without the typical cutting in and out lock like the 2.0 cut's do. Now all the ACM/VCM Ive found are IP so I havent had a chance to actually test the mux and see if its clean without errors, but the ber looks good. Im pretty sure its not a AAC though for the price, but its defn interesting. Uses a molex power connector. $75 cdn with shipping
