VLC/TransEdit/New Versions

Less than a year ago, the older versions of VLC would work in conjunction with Transedit(DVBViewer) so you just had to first run Transedit, scan in the signal and then hit ANALYZE.  Next you would start VLC, select "Open Capture Device and select DVB Directshow.  Finally hit Play and wahlaa, your picture would appear.

Well as usual, constant updates end up screwing up any real positives for this setup.  Now you don't have the DVB Directshow.  Instead  you have Digital Televison (I think), which I can't get to work in any capacity.  Maybe you linux guru's know how to get this to work since VLC is pretty useless to me since it only works for my needs as an audio player.

Maybe I'm missing something, since I've never gotten anything from it scanning TV channels and now satellite is screwed up unless (I think) you use TS Reader) which is a 100 bucks..

Any ideas?...oh yeah, the best one was to delete and download an older version (I used 1.8) and it works fine now, no errors...but I wondered if anyone got the newer stuff working..
