Well, I received a new TBS-6983 Monday, and this morning I put it in my computer. Installed the drivers from the TBS site, and started the computer up.
I had downloaded the most recent TSREADER source file from TBS, and went to install the TSREADER source for the 6983, but apparently it hasn't been added yet.
So I started up TSREADER using Crazycat's streamreader proxy source. It recognized the 6983, however at first I couldn't get it to lock on anything. Then I found out that apparently the 2 input ports on the card were apparently reversed. Once I switched to the other port, I locked the 12180 PBS mux on AMC21 fine.
I then went to try Crazyscan. Crazyscan recognized the 2 tuners on the card, however it gave that "RF scan not supported" error, so everything was grayed out so I couldn't do a scan or get into the constellation window where I might be able to enter lock parameters.
So I gave up with Crazyscan, and went back to using TSREADER with the streamreader proxy source. I tried to lock an ACM/VCM transponder, which locked with my 6925, however despite indicating a relatively strong signal, it wouldn't lock. I wasn't expecting to see any channels on this transponder, since it's "continuous", but I expected it to at least lock.
Anyway, it looks like I can use this for playing and recording regular DVB-S and DVB-S2-8PSK channels, but until either TBS releases a TSREADER source, or until Crazycat get's a 6983 to experiment on, I guess I won't be able to further evaluate it on the more sophistocated modes.
EDIT: I tried to give that TBS-TSrecorder thing a try with it to see if it would work. When trying the older version that I had used on the 6925, it didn't seem to have any way of selecting between 6925 and 6983. So I uninstalled the old one and installed the newer one, but it wouldn't run, plus it's setup file said it was only for the 6925 and 5925. So I guess this isn't going to work either???
