In two other threads, I was mentioning that I have a Broadlogic 1030 card, which is a DVB-S receiver that has a demuxer, which was interesting. In one of the threads, I mentioned that I had bought a 2nd 1030 card, which came with an additional card, and that I wasn't sure what this 2nd card did.
Well, I looked in my boxes of sat stuff, and found them. It turns out that the receiver is NOT a plain 1030, but it is a Broadlogic 1030b. The difference seems to be that it has an additional connector on top, to which a ribbon cable connects it to this additional card.
This 2nd card is called a PLX 43-4010-40 Satellite Transmitter Card. On googling it, I saw one page describing it as being part of a video server of some kind. This card has an F-connector that is labeled as RF-out and another connector labeled as DC-in.
Since the control program for the 1030 allows it to generate a stream of selected PIDs for multicast, it almost seems like this card must take the stream from the 1030, and maybe generate an RF signal with that channel. However the question is, what format would it be in? The 1030 card is very old, so it might be an analog NTSC, but they make little modulator cards that will do this that are a lot less complicated than this card. Maybe the "b" version of the card is a newer card, and might output ATSC or some other digital format???? But then I wonder what freq it would be on.
I guess there is no way I could use the card unless I can find some documentation, including instructions for what to do with the several jumper pins on the card. It must be an expensive card new, because I saw a couple places selling it for > $90.
Does anyone have any idea of what this card might do, and/or know where I might find a program to control it?
