Mr Crazycat Mr UpdateLee Mr bluzee (and anyone else)
Can I humbly pick your brains please
I made this post a few months ago: https://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/where-to-start-in-linux-11665392
Anyhow at the time I gave up and went back to windows/smartdvb (which works wonderfully excellent program)
Now I have decided to have another go because I cannot stand windows anymore
I have been on Arch linux for a couple of very frustrating weeks now trying to get my tv setup
I have installed:
tbs-firmware: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tbs-firmware/
tbsecp3 driver: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tbsecp3-driver-git-dkms/
I installed tvheadend with kodi
Whenever I start a channel there is a 90 - 120 second delay BUT once the channel is loaded all of the channels within the TP/muxx open instantly
If I select a channel on a different TP i have to wait the 90 - 120 seconds again but then all channels within that TP/muxx open instantly
I tried to play with all of the settings for a week and a half within tvheadend
After nearly throwing my keyboard through the monitor I gave up and I am currently trying to use VDR
I am seeing similar issues, its very hit and miss
Is there something I am doing wrong when I install the driver? Is there a setting I need to change?
gary@pc ~]$ ls /dev/dvb
adapter0 adapter1
$ su
Password:
# dmesg | grep frontend
TBSECP3 driver 0000:04:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6903 DVB-S/S2 )...
TBSECP3 driver 0000:04:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6903 DVB-S/S2 )...
I am not a power user, I dont really understand that much about the drivers I just know they have worked effortlessly for me on windows for years
Funny thing is scanning with a program called w_scan_cpp is excellent it finds channels instantly and i mean in seconds, that is a plugin for vdr
I am not experienced enough to speak in technical terms, I can tell you I am on the 5-10 lts kernel if that helps (I know there was an issue with borked nvidia graphics I saw your post on tbs forums)
It does work sometimes its just janky (for me) - https://postimg.cc/F7NZNdbV
