30000-51000 SR using smartdvb

$

I am starting this topic as I have been working with our good friend JJ on getting smartdvb to scan in the High SR's that we saw during the National Championship Game and are likely to see for the Super Bowl. i have a feeling we will see more and more of these 16apsk feeds, both for Remi and normal transmission. My DVB cards would not tune the TP's in smartdvb which was probably user error. However I did get EBS to tune them and then stream to VLC. I talked with JJ and he said Smartdvb should work with them and he even contacted TBS DVB company about the high SRs and their cards. I asked JJ if he could post some things here that might help us use his program to get these feeds when they pop up. Hopefully it will make it easier on all of us if it just works through smartdvb instead of using one program to tune and another to stream to.
We will try to keep this topic only about Smartdvb and the High SR's and hopefully start other threads about other ways so we can keep it clean and simple for people wanting to use different tools to attempt to get these.

Again thank you JJ for all you do and for all the info to follow in this thread..and thank you Rick and the the gang for all the info and this forum!

computer vid card advice wanted

I'm wondering if I should install a dedicated video card.

about a year or so ago I "built"/upgraded my computer. it has an i7-4790K processor on a Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H motherboard, a 980 watt power supply, 16gb DDR-3 memory

I've been using the built-in Video from the i7 CPU, and I haven't had any issue. But, I also haven't really been pushing it, and I haven't been using it for satellite receiving either.

I'm thinking about using it for USB DVB boxes with SmartDVB and EBS-Pro, and I'm thinking I'd probably want/need a dedicated video card.

Given all that, and the fact that I am not a PC gamer, do you think I should get a video card?
And, which card(s) can you suggest that are not also "room heaters"?
Thanks in advance,

Raw command for limit

I sometimes get the reach west/east limit/stuck motor message and have to go down to the basement where the ASC1 positioner is and manually click OK with the remote to escape out of it. Is there any way to do this with a raw command or something else? I'm using ebspro to control the positioner and when I get this I can't move the dish east/west by clicks but can move it based on the programmed positions, but sometimes I need to nudge the dish a few clicks east/west to get the highest signal for a particular position.

Also, what's the best PC software for controlling the positioner? The positioner in dvbdream seems very unstable and often crashes. Ebspro positioner works well other than this one issue of escaping out of the motor limit message.

I picked up a 6925, works in on one of my  pc's  W10 64/Home Edition, no problem's
I want to use it another PC, I picked up, it also has W/10 64/Home Edition

I haven't had any luck getting PC to recognize the card
I Have 3 pci express slots, and one regular pci slot
I tried it first in the mini pci express slot, then the other two
I  have looked in device manager, it is  not listed
I loaded software, uninstalled  a couple times, reinstalled, no difference
I hoping some of You Guys could shed some light
I read somewhere  , I might need to go in bios and turn on pci express
I always thought they should be active, not sure
Any info would be appreciated

Hi,

I use CrazyCat's StreamReader.dll on Windows. SetChannel works with DVB-S.

But I don't get it working with DVB-T (SetChannel returns false). Which parameters do I have to use with DVB-T. Frequency in Hz / kHz / MHz. I Don't know Symbolrate, there is not LOF ...

An example helps.

Thanks in advance.

DVB-S2 TV TUNER

I have many years of experience in the satellite industry, but none with DVB-S2 TV Tuners. I often see a feed listed on the forum but my Manhattan RS-1933 won't scan it in. I also want to be able to view the 4:2:2 feeds.

I have done some research and narrowed my choices to the TBS 5925 and the TBS 5922.
I want to use my laptop which I why I chose a USB tuner.

It appears the main difference between these 2 models is the 5925 will tune signals up to 32 APSK, while the 5922 is limited to 8PSK. Are there any other significant features that the 5925 has over the 5922?

I am looking for a TV tuner to get my feet wet and feel the 5922 would be adequate. Would I be wasting my money buying the 5922?

I sincerely appreciate all feedback.

Blindscanning without BL logic

$

I bought one of those crappy little tuners from the Outernet people. Then they changed their minds, and decided to go Ka band.

I just tried a blindscan with Smartdvb. The chipset does not support BlScan or Blscan2. No surprise.

I selected " Disable blindscan logic" with same result.

According, to the LinuxTV folks, it has a Montage DS3103, and they claim both the DS3000 and DS3103 can blindscan.

Here is my question: Is there a program that can blindscan on hardware that does not have one of the advanced chipsets ?

I seem to remenber there was a way 10 years ago to do this on dumb boards like Twinhan and WinTV Nova. Windows app did all the work, and it was painfully slow.

EBSpro is now freeware

This is very good news!!!

EBSpro.net

Quote:
> 16.0.0.0 (stable)

- EBSpro is now freeware (all features is now unlocked for all). - Added auto dish adjustment (beta) feature in positioner console.*

- Added SNR bar in positioner console. - Removed SatFeeds' related things from EBSpro. Isn't supported anymore. - Now shows in a tooltip the ID and status of the selected tuner in the device list. - CTRL+F now works in SidePanel Scanner (to search a scanned service or frequency)

- Fixed MIS detection issues in DT with AU mode (in SA Window) - Fixed a potential crash selecting the MIS Id (SA)

- Fixed a problem with DiSEqC 1.1 when the DiSEqC mode is set to Auto. - Fixed a potential lockup of the main UI due to unsafe thread calls.

- Changed the current "new transponder" sound (yes, the annoying ka-boom) by another one a bit more cool. - Some minor fixes and improvements.

- Updated: StreamReader.dll to 1.2.4.1406.

* A quick and easy way to fine tune a dish that is connected to a 1.2 DiSEqC (motor). It finds the best signal available checking the SNR value and moving the dish in little steps. P.D: For making it working well, you need at least more than 1-2 dB of SNR and of course, a dvb card that support SNR reading and Diseqc 1.2 support.

SmartUpdater specific (v2.0.0.3):

- Fixed an indexOutOfBounds error when the server script isn't working as it should.

Audio sync with Potplayer

I know this is strange, but I'm asking a question about a problem I'm not having right now, which confuses me.
My issue _WAS_ that whenever I would use PotPlayer to play either live or recorded video, the audio sync would be WAY OFF. I'm not sure if it happened ALL the time, partly because more often than not I use the program without audio, but it seemed that way.  With all my other player programs like VLC, MPC-HC, SMPLAYER, and a couple other players, the audio sync was perfect.  PotPlayer has a menu option to adjust audio sync, but I kept forgetting to set it to save the sync after adjusting it, plus, I never was able to get it quite perfect.   This had been bugging me up until and including just yesterday.
So today, having a bit of free time, I decided to adjust and save the audio sync in Potplayer.  Of course, you've probably guessed, today, I have tried multiple files and live satellite sources, and the audio sync seems to be perfect with everything I've tried.
Anyway, my questions are, what would have caused the audio sync to have been off with Potplayer even though it was OK with other players, _AND_ what could have changed between yesterday and today to have fixed the problem???
I've always assumed that audio sync problems were due to a problem with the PCR PID, or perhaps not enough buffer to save whichever audio or video stream needs to be delayed to accomplish the sync, however there hasn't been any changes since yesterday relative to those things.
One thing that might possibly be related that I've posted about in the past, is that on the computer I'm using, when I run Potplayer, it takes a LONG TIME, typically more than a minute, before the program comes up, even though it comes up very fast on other computers that aren't normally used for playing video.  I thought that maybe this might be causing a time issue, and thought that this might be caused by either a virus protection program or perhaps by the fact that I generally have access to the internet blocked on this computer.  However I've tried running with and without internet access, and with and without the virus program running, and neither seemed to change things.   HOWEVER, TODAY, I noticed that when I called up Potplayer, it came up with no delay, for pretty much the first time I can remember, so maybe there is some connection here.
One other thing that might be related is that this computer normally has a couple hard drives, and I normally keep video files on the E: drive. I've noticed that when I used Windows Explorer to browse the E: drive, that it takes a while before the file listing comes up, whereas the C: drive comes up right away. I'm not sure if this is caused by that drive having some power save feature of going to sleep when not in use, or perhaps it doesn't save the file listings, and has to do a search before showing the listing.  But one thing that did change yesterday was that I plugged in a USB drive, which comes up immediately when I pull it up in Explorer, and TODAY, the E: drive seems to come up immediately too, which is strange, so perhaps there is some connection there too as well.

Anyway, I'm just curious re whether any might have some ideas as to what might explain all these symptoms.  Right now, everything seems to be working, but I am very curious about what caused these symptoms prior to today.

Shaw Direct Stacked LNB

Hello Everyone:

I recently acquired two Shaw Direct Stacked LNB's - California Amplifier - 150482. My question is? Can I use these LNB's for with/on a Non-Shaw Direct system? I also recently acquired a 1.8M Andrew dish and I was looking at the possibility of using the 150482 LNB on that dish if it would work with my equipment. I presently am using a AZBox Premium HD+, Prof USB 7500 and TBS 5925.

If any has an information or suggestion I would really appreciate your advice/help.

Thanks
Lineman

4K Computer Juice

I know it is at some risk but I put a faster used cpu on one of my 3 Win 7 machines. The I7 990X six core and moved up to 7.8 for a windows 7 index number for cpu and memory. Feeling some what lucky I ordered one more of these faster cpus for a second machine. I still have "feelings" or fondness for the old and slow XP based machines. (the ones which still have working serial and parallel ports) It was the search for proper drivers for win 7 for an old printer that put me through "hell week" after getting a social disease among many of my computer files. Any way with a freshly cleaned sshd and reloaded op plus that 6 core cpu I am humming a new tune. I expect to expire of older age before anyone is selling a nice stand alone 4K sat receiver here in North America. I had built three win 7 machines, all with used mother boards, and parts two years ago as I weaned myself off of XP. (I still bite my thumb when I sleep at night)

Soon one machine will run directly via the 4K 55 inch tv monitor. May have to put a usb tuner in the pile plus a wireless mouse and key board to get soft chair control function. I have now too many wires laid across the floor to do any walking around in the dark. While 4K may just turn out to be a passing fade (3DTV could have been useful with the playboy channel) I want to watch the sat demo 4K loops until I have them all in memory. I  think back here to my youth and tv shows and the plastic film you stick over the crt and then draw on the screen. I remember another plastic over lay which had green along the bottom and blue along the top to make a B&W tv appear sorta in some colors. (we are way back here now)

Now, we have the Dick Tracey wrist radio with screen called smart phones so where the heck is my 4K tv programs? Old people do not have for-ever to wait! Will the next Super Bowl get 4K out to my house?

While I see much better performance with the 6 core cpu I still need to find a use for this speed I never had from my XP based world. I assume in other countries where they sell 4K sat receivers now that perhaps they can watch a few programs in 4k quality. I wear glasses now, please put up some 4k programs "here" now before I go blind! Ok, perhaps over stating the fact we have hardware and very little to use with it. A cart with no horse is just a gravity powered death trap. (I built a few in my youth and we ran them down the pasture hills until the wheels fell off) When I look out a window I see in near 4K quality. I want to see 4k now when using a window based sat tuner. Perhaps age has not trained me to hurry up and wait very well. It was the lust for the 4K world that I left the peace and slow pace of the XP joy of my younger days. (my micro wave oven has been taking "its own sweet time" warming up hot dogs of late also)

I do like the faster cpu but really need a "reason" to have them. I am now at cutting edge but just 7 or so years late getting there. Why own a 4K able monitor and just watch the reruns of Lassie and Lucy with it? (in B&W) Perhaps some green beer and I will find an answer----
